HEALTH & HOME

Whole House

From non-toxic paint and flooring options to water and air filtration systems, these products, though pricier, can be implemented into the design and decor of your home and make a huge difference in overall  toxin exposure for your whole house! These may not be affordable and therefore not implementable right away, but they are great options to save up for or consider when the time is right!

Air

Air quality is so important and can have a large impact on overall health and wellness. According to studies done by the EPA, Americans spend more than 90% of our time in the built environment; home, work, and in our cars. The EPA also found that indoor air can be 2-5x more polluted than outdoor air. Knowing this, getting an air filtration system can be a really helpful tool in creating a healthy home! Not all air filtration systems are the same so it is important to get one that really cleans the air - which is why we recommend the AirDoctor & Austin Air systems!

Water

Before you buy a water filtration system, it is super important to know what type of filtration you need. We always recommend doing a TapScore Test before buying any type of filtration system to make sure you are getting the system that you are getting the correct system for you and your water! Once you do your test, you will also receive a list of best filtration system options and can choose from there - knowing you got the right unit for your family's and home's needs! To learn more about TapScore and how it all works - take a listen to our podcast episode with CEO John Pujol below!

WHY THE NATURE VIDEOS ON AN INTERIOR DESIGN SITE?

At Health & Home, we’re all about creating a healthy home by minimizing toxins and optimizing the design to maximize your health! And you know what? The easiest way to do that is to look to nature! Research has shown time and time again that using more natural and non-toxic products as well as incorporating elements of nature into our spaces, can both have a really positive impact on your overall health & wellness!

Now, don’t worry – you don’t have to turn your family room into a forest to get those benefits! Actually, you don’t have to change your aesthetic at all if you don’t want to! No matter what your personal style may be, we can work with you to create an environment that supports your health and wellness goals. We do this by looking at nature for things like colors, textures, and sounds to determine how they can positively or negatively impact your well-being based on the latest research, and then we use that information to create a space that’s just right for you & what you want from your space!

So why are there these videos at the top of the pages? Well, we put these here to help set the tone for the page and give you a taste of how exposure to elements of nature can impact your mood, your perception, and even your physical health! Below you will find an in-depth explanation as to why we chose the video we did for the page you are on and the research that we used to decide on that. Our hope is that this can help you see how you can intentionally take this kind of research and apply it to the design of your home so you can naturally get all the amazing benefits AND have a beautiful home at the same time!

HOW DID THIS PAGE MAKE YOU FEEL?

We wanted you to encouraged, hopeful & excited as you shop the amazing non-toxic products that will help you create a healthy home! The video featured on our Shop page has tall, majestic trees against a backdrop of a beautiful blue sky, with sunlight streaming through the branches, symbolizing the act of shining a light on the good natural products available in Health & Home’s shop. The video aims to create a sense of wonder, tranquility, and optimism, while highlighting our commitment to offering high-quality, natural products that contribute to creating a healthy home environment. The imagery of trees and the radiant sunlight represents the nourishing and transformative power of nature, encouraging individuals to explore the shop’s offerings and make informed choices for their well-being.

Research suggests that exposure to natural environments, such as trees and sunlight, can have positive effects on mental and physical well-being. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, and promote feelings of vitality (Bratman et al., 2012; Li et al., 2018). The color blue in the sky symbolizes tranquility, trust, and reliability, while sunlight streaming through the branches represents hope, enlightenment, and the illumination of knowledge. The video’s elements can inspire you to select natural, environmentally friendly alternatives for your home. The imagery of trees and sunlight reminds us of the power that can come from shining a light on the products that can help us live healthier lives and using knowledge to help us not live in the dark using harmful products on our bodies and in our homes.

You can create a space inspired by this aesthetic by incorporating natural materials like wood furniture and accents that can infuse spaces with the strength and grounding presence of trees. Shades of blue in decor elements, such as cushions, curtains, or wall art, can evoke a sense of calmness and serenity. Harnessing natural light through well-placed windows or skylights can bathe rooms in a warm and uplifting light – helping it to feel airy and open like the aesthetic – perfect for any common area!
